Dear friends and followers of our band
We have decided to retire girlcrush in it's current form for now
It's been a really tough decision which has been brewing for a very long time, but it's just not viable for us to continue playing together in this format.
We are very grateful for all the support you have all given us throughout the years. We've loved bonding with you through common experiences of queerness, mental illness, heartbreak and love
It surprised us immensely how much the music bizz in 2019 was ready for a band like us - a band without much experience playing instruments and standing on stage
We feel that we were pioneers at that time, when only a handful of non-male musicians were playing rock music at the bigger venues and in the rehearsal rooms
We felt we had a lot of important things to say, and we're glad that both the press and the people cared to listen
Now we meet a lot of fellow women and gender queer musicans when we're out gigging or rehearsing in our practice space
We would love to celebrate the time we had together and the songs we wrote with all of the friends and followers we made along the way
We will play a long ass goodbye show with all our songs at Stengade where we played our first awful open mic show.
We hope to see a lot of familiar faces. Come and cry with us
Love girlcrush
P.S. Juni and Marie might continue playing together in another format with another name. We'll of course keep you posted about what we're up too.
None of us are ready to stop playing music all together
