Indonesiske Denisa som har bevæget sig fra mørk alt pop / singer songwriter til atmosfærisk doomet eksperimenterende alternative rock kommer til Danmark for første gang når hun spiller Stengade d. 10 april.

Denisa:
Hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia, Denisa Dhaniswara embraced an ambitious take on lyricism since 2019. Blooming into the dark, Denisa has encircled herself with music characters soaked in heavy, experimental guitars, bashy galled drums and a bold mix of eerie, sardonic singing. Her lyrics to date are based and inspired by modern biblical writings which compliments her eulogy-like point of views in writing. Denisa is known to gather audience into a dark yet graceful reverie through her emotionally charged guise. In her recordings, she sings and produces intricate daunting fields in her own little realm of the heavy music scene in Indonesia. Denisa writes mainly about grief and belief.

Meejah is a Danish-Korean band released on Soon Records in Denmark and Poclanos in South Korea.

Their debut album ‘Queen of Spring’ is centered around the 8 trigrams in Korean philosophy and taoism: Heaven ☰ Thunder ☳ Mountain ☶ Earth ☷ Wind ☴ Fire ☲ Water ☵ Lake ☱

The album interprets transnational identity, ancestry, loss & return. Nordic melancholia and Korean Han.

‘Queen of Spring’ is voted Best of 2021 by readers of Korean Indie and Meejah were nominated for the Danish Music Critics Award Steppeulven 2022 in the category: ‘Hope of the Year’.

In 2024 Meejah went to Seattle to film their very own KEXP Live Session in the legendary studio.

The band takes influences from experimental, post-rock, post-metal, ambient, ethereal noise, gritty trip hop, tibetan singing bowls and gongs, Korean pansori singing and shoegaze.
