Pigs x 7:
Whether dwelling in the realm of dreams or nightmares, the primordial drive of Newcastle-based Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs is more powerful than ever. Land of Sleeper, their fourth record in a decade of riot and rancour, is testimony to this: the sound of a band not so much reinvigorated as channelling a furious energy, which only appears to gather momentum as the band’s surroundings spin on their axis.
Following the album’s first single "Mr Medicine" - the audio equivalent of sticking a fork in plug socket - comes single number two, and album opener: the coruscating "Ultimate Hammer". “Everything at the moment feels like it's moving at one hell of a speed. Momentous events pass by in the blink of an eye while we try to keep our heads steady on a planet spinning roughly 1,000 miles per hour,” elaborates vocalist Matt Baty. “Maybe it's always been this way but it sure is hard not to feel dizzy. What a time to be alive.”
Balancing out the febrile atmosphere conjured by Baty’s lyrics is the unabashed volume and catharsis delivered by the song. According to guitarist Adam Ian Sykes: “Ultimate Hammer is the by-product of being trapped in the house and listening to too much ZZ Top, if there is such a thing. It was written to be unapologetic, a selfish endeavour with the only consideration being how fun it would be to play live.”
Alongside the release of "Ultimate Hammer" comes the announcement of more headline live shows across the UK, Europe and North America.
Throughout Land of Sleeper the intensity of feeling is writ large right from the pulverising drive of opener "Ultimate Hammer", and its rallying cry "I keep spinning out, what a time to be alive". Yet, whilst "Terror's Pillow" and "Big Rig" are rich with the band's trademark Sabbathian power, there's scope this time around that supercedes anything they've previously attempted. Matt's duet with the traditional folk vocals of Cath Tyler on the closing lament 'Ball Lightning', for example, is one particularly potent illustration of their expanded horizons.
In terms of emotional impact, a pinnacle on Land of Sleeper is "The Weatherman". Replete with devotional rapture and radiant intensity, the band's attack slowed down to a mantric and mesmeric crawl, it marks a collaboration with the ululatory tones of Bonnacons Of Doom vocalist Kate Smith and a choir including Richard Dawson and Sally Pilikington.
For all that the last few years have seen Pigs' stature rise in the wake of triumphant festival slots and sold-out venues alike, this remains a band, consummated by bassist John-Michael Hedley, guitarist Sam Grant and returning drummer Ewan Mackenzie, who are fundamentally incapable of tailoring their sound to a prospective audience, instead standing alone and impervious as a monument of catharsis.
The better to unite slumber and waking, Land of Sleeper is no less than an act of transcendence for Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - new anthems to elucidate a world sleepwalking to oblivion.

Kollapse are a trio from Denmark who play visceral and haunting music that is uncompromisingly personal and filled with despair. Passion and intensity are the driving forces of the band and they
have always shied away from any specific music scene or genre. Informed by expressionist art, existentialism, and living in the northern part of Scandinavia, Kollapse has continuously incorporated desire, grief, and the inherent human need to scream at an empty existence, into their music. Their music follows the paths carved by the likes of Edvard Munch, Carl Th. Dreyer, and Stig Sæterbakken and their brutal realism.
Kollapse are not offering any half-hearted solutions or post-modern irony; instead, the band reaches out into the world with bloodied and coarse hands. The band has been haunting the European music
scene for a long time and have played a long line of intense show in countries like Germany, Estonia, England, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
The band released their 2nd album, Sult, on June 25th, 2021 through Fysisk Format. The album garnered a slew of extremely good reviews and ended up on various ‘best of 2021’-lists. In September 2022 the band began recording their follow-up album to Sult at Dead Rat Studios with Jacob Bredahl as producer - the albums i set to be released in the summer of 2023.

+ Support: Grava
GRAVA is a trio based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Consisting of Atli Brix Kamban (vocals, guitar), Niels Asger Svensson (vocals, bass) and Casper Axilgård (drums), the band charts a savage line between crushingly simple sludge riffs and sheer nightmarish brutality.
Recorded live in the studio over just three days, the debut album “Weight of a God” showcases a band hellbent on capturing the rough and violent sound of a live recording and leaving every rough edge unpolished. The album was recorded and produced by Troels Damgaard Holm at Black Tornado Studio and Farvemøllen.
Lyrically, the band portrays scenes of death through the eyes of the dying, unearthed from the great tomes of history. Here you’ll encounter the final moments of shipwrecked men as the icy waves fill their lungs and drag them to the deep (“WAVES”) and the howls of the 6000 crucified slaves that stood up to the power of the Roman Empire and lost (“APPIAN WAY”) or the unfortunate prisoner who was trampled to death by a work elephant in the East Asia of yore (“CRUSHER“).
