THE CONCERT IS SOLD OUT!
Local alt-country darlings Sink Ships are hitting the stage for the final time at Spillestedet Stengade with a bunch of amazing guests and friends.
Sink Ships is heartworn alt-country/rock made by two Australians, a Swede and two Danes, based in Copenhagen. They sing tales of heartache, distance, love, urban melancholia and homesick blues over twangy lap-steel guitar, wailing violin and a ragged rhythm section. It’s tender, timeless and longing in all the right places, rocking and raw everywhere else. Plowing a sonic road that fans of Uncle Tupelo, Songs: Ohia, Big Star, My Morning Jacket and Neil Young & Crazy Horse will find agreeable, but emerging at the end with something utterly their own.
Over the years, the band has played with Cass McCombs, Phosphorescent, Angel Olsen, Deer Tick, The Rumour Said Fire, Lindi Ortega, Mark Eitzel, Wovenhand, & Pete Molinari.
“Halasan Bazar holds the acoustic power of San Fransisco in the 60s. Stripped down to perfection, their psych-folk sound only enhances the pop undertones, causing layers upon layers of shifting harmonies to form what some may call a modern freak-folk sound. A tune for a vagabond” – Too Many Carpets USA
Far Away From Fiji was born on the cold shores of Denmark. The idea was to create a soundtrack for an imaginary movie. A fascinating guideline from which to build and form songs, the beauty and complexity of these fictive films is conveyed in each track.
